Has Anyone else experinced this??
All Disturbed Ones Know That even though the band's title suggest it their feelings and Ideas that are expressed through there music are NO WHERES NEAR DISTURBING! In fact they are the complete opposite, they give me strength and make me feel good. But as far as my question goes whenever i tell someone that i'm a die hard fan of the band and that person either A) never listened to their songs or B) only heard one song and makes a snap judgment like "Oh I heard Down With The Sickness and that band is sick in the head". When in reality that song expresses the true issues within Mother Society. But because of Drainman's amazing way of getting his feelings across people Suddenly assume that he's insane for saying those things in the song. So my overall question is does any other Disturbed Fans get those "stereotypes" against the band.

....seriously? None of this
....seriously?
None of this has ever happened to me, and Disturbed is my fave band. People either have never heard a song of theirs, dont mind them, or like them. Ive never ever heard a person say something like "They're weird, or they're distubing" But I have heard people sya that about Slipknot and Mariyln Manson, so I know how it feels..
To be honest, I do that to
To be honest, I do that to bands I don't listen to, but in a different respect. Most of the time when I'm searching for music on iTunes, I type in a random band and preview their most popular song. If I don't like it, I won't feel like listening to more of their music. And if I do, I might buy an album. Anytime I buy an album, there are usually only a few songs I like. You've all been there before, I know it. But you get over that and start to like the rest.
Anyway, if you run into people like that, I say you should recommend them a few good songs or albums, maybe they'll change their opinion then.
Yes, it happens to me too.
Yes, it happens to me too. People mostly hear everything but the true meaning of the song. I have come to the point that I know people think the music I listen to is twisted...or "disturb"ing, :D Which gives a quote from the 10,000 fists, "if this disturbs you then walk away"
I know what music that I love and am glad to find a place (here) where I know that people won't judge me for my music because we are all "disturbed" :)
stereotypes suck, and the fact that some people aren't willing to look past the stereotype is very sad. Just know you aren't alone.

Wow every single word said
Wow every single word said by you three I compeltly relate to. But on the brighter side it does just unify us even more for who we are and what we like. "You Don't Judge What You Don't Understand." If only everyone followed that line. Face it every single human being out there needs a dose of Disturbed's music
I moved to Montana over two
I moved to Montana over two years ago and when I would talk about Disturbed people would look at me like I was an alien.
What exactly does freedom mean, if I'm not free to be as twisted as I want to be.
Not really because,
I am a living "Stereotype". The person you're referring to?
The times I did admit I liked Disturbed, people looked at me strange. Especially when it's them playing Disturbed. I'll say, "Oh cool, it's Disturbed!" I'll smile. They'll look at me as if I've come from another planet. I've had comments like, "YOU?" (Blank stare)
So, yes, back at you.
unfortunatly
yep , happns all the time :'(
