most pit tips?
well sunday is my date for the mayhem fest. and this is going to be my first concert ever. and i kinda wanted to mosh for the first time in my life. but i need a bit of help. ive seen videos online where if someone isnt doing it right. the whole pit gangs up on that one person. i dont wanna be that person lol :) anybody have any advice when in the mosh pits and what exactly i should be doing besides going crazy. thanks!

dude i been to shows from tool, ill nino, sevendust even the incredible disturbed and the only advice is just have fun and watch out for those who fall down , like you can just bounce around off people, or you can step it up a notch and start swinging and punching, if you do that be prepared to get hit, as far as the pit ganging up on one person , i been to a ton of shows and never have i seen that

I agree! No one gangs up on you unless maybe your acting like an ASS and really trying to start fights!! Really its all a bunch of pushing peeps around. It can get very agressive, but it's all in good fun, no one is there to hurt you (on purpose). The ones trying to hurt people for real, get it back twice as hard. Just keep that in mind.
If someone falls down HELP THEM UP!! But everyone is there to have a good time. Don't ever stand with you feet together, keep them apart, it helps with your center of gravity, that way you can't get knocked down as easy. AND to rookiemw, iLL NINO ROCKS. I've seen them a couple of times!! Once I saw them with Static X, and Opiate for the Masses, talk about a crazy ass concert!!! LOVED IT!!!

Great tips! It's all about movement and energy and nobody gangs up on you unless you are trying to hurt people. I am old school and old and sometimes there are some people nowadays that don't understand what moshing is about and try to hurt people or get mad at people running into them. Generally, though, most people are always cool at a metal show. Have fun.

Well talk about old scool...I've moshed at Nirvana, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, RATM, Godsmack, numerous others & now Distrubed coming up next month for the second time and just like everyone's said just keep your head up and watch out for yourself. They'll be plenty of pushing and shoving and just trying to maintain your own space but you'll have a blast - good luck!
