CD editing

I am sick of going to a store looking for a good CD only to see the word "edited" on it. If anyone doesn't know, an edited CD is one that has been CENSORED>:( Three times now I have tried to buy an album to find that it is edited. First time, I go to buy The Sickness: edited. Second time, Believe: edited. Third time, All Hope Is Gone(Slipknot), you guessed it, EDITED! Lucky for me, I have been able to buy the first 2 in their true forms on this site, but have been unable to find the third unedited. I refuse to purchase an edited album, they are a waste of money. Whoever thought of censoring CDs needs a reality check, if they're trying to keep little kids from hearing "strong language", it's a lost cause, with today's economy, I'm sure they hear there parents say things way worse than what's on the track. My point is, editing a CD is absolutely pointless, it kills all value of a perfectly good album, and causes stores to lose sales. It also completely ruins great songs like Liberate, Y'all Want A Single(Korn), and many, MANY others. Also, these "edited" CDs cost more than the original, I shit you not people, editors are getting payed extra for ruining music.

?

are there any specialized music stores? HMV or something? in canada i've never run into an editing problem they don't bother (well maybe at walmart but i dont go there annyways

well

canada usually aren't such jackasses about things like this, but i'm pretty sure walmart still does even in canada, but maybe not

well

this is why i don't buy CDs at places like wal-mart unless I know they're not Parental Advisory (PA). If they are, then I look for the good ole Parental Advisory sticker to assure me that it's not edited ;-) (wal-mart doesn't have PA CDs...cuz they're such a family corporation.......what bullshit)

I know

Unfortunately for one of my neighbors, he didn't know that, and now, every CD he owns(except Issues by Korn) is edited, including The Sickness, Believe, Avenged Sevenfold(self titled), and many others. Also, to Wal-Mart, what "families" do you know that have little kids that all sit down every night around their living room and crank up Down With The Sickness for all the little boys and girls. And if there is such a family, do ya really think they give a shit if their kids hear "fuck"? It really is bullshit.

well....

i do understand having a limited supply for those that want them (like parents who won't let their kids listen otherwise, yet the kids still wanna hear the songs) but it's obvious that kids hear much worse stuff than this, and words are words, it's what they mean and signify that's bad, so editing out specific words such as shit or fuck does nothing, when you have all the bad messages such as pop songs have, treating women as objects, "get[ting] rich or d[ying] trying," needing stuff in order to be happy, all the fast cars, drugs, etc. that is what is dangerous in music, not some word like fuck. oh, and wal-mart, busy raping america economically, but they still have time to impose their "family" values on you. fuck em

Exactly

That is exactly what is wrong with most music today. Bad messages. Also, CD editing annoys the hell out of me. If you don't want to listen to a song the way it is supposed to be. DON'T LISTEN!!

PS. The only reason I go to Walmart is because it is less than a half-mile away and it is pretty cheap most of the time.

My problem too

I have the same problem, there are 3 stores close to where I live, 2 are Wal-Marts, the other is a K-mart(no edited CDs, but their prices are horrifying, $20 or more for 1 CD before the added sales tax, and they have a very limited selection of bands like Disturbed and they just don't sell Slipknot CDs at all). Other than those three stores nothing else sells CDs that isn't an hour or more away from my house.
