I am sick of hearing rap artists blatenly throw this word around. They know nothing about rockin'(exception: Run DMC), I'm fine with them doin' there own thing, but, what they do is far from rock, and they need to realize that.

Rappers can't rock. Period.
Rappers can't and will never be able to rock. Leave the rocking for real rock bands like Disturbed

That is so true Run DMC is the only group in that genre that has the rock beat in their music and many rap artists say that they basically looked up to them but they went the complete opposite way as far as their lyrics...Like you said they can make any type of music they feel is necessary but they can never comare themselves to Run DMC because their music is totally different... Some have good lyrics and good beats but they can not call it rock...In my opinion rock has more of a meaning...

Rock has true meaning that rappers don't seem to understand, and, because they don't understand it, they don't respect it. Run DMC, however, is almost more rock than rap and uses instruments found in a rockband(rather than other rappers who use synthetic music). All in all, rappers need to understand what Rock really is and show it more respect than they do( instead of throwing it around in their music as if it's theirs), and Run DMC is the only time I actually enjoy hearing rap(once again, it's got more rock qualities than rap).

i don't expect "rappers" nowadays to respect rock, when they don't even respect their own genre, filling it with talentless rhymes and thrown-together beats. seriously....rhyming "condo" with "toronto???" ffs, come back with some better rhymes.

I don't think anyone can truly respect rap nowadays either, but I just wanted to get it out there that rock deserves more respect than it gets from pop('puke') and rap.
If only there were more like Run DMC.

don't really listen to Run DMC, but ya don't have to be like them to be good rap. everyone has their own style, look at Eminem (oldschool), Dr. Dre, Tupac, Biggie, etc. all of them had redeeming aspects, mainly lyrically. nowadays though, musical shit is thrown together with an annoying repeated beat that people "dance" to mindlessly. it's a shame that some of these artists deign to call themselves rappers. many can't sing (synth, musical effects and other editing is used to cover this fact), they can't make innovative rhymes, they can't even make that creative of beats, it repeats after about 4 notes most of the time. it's lazy mass-produced bullshit and i can't fucking stand it. it happens in rock too, though at least these people have the talent to use actual instruments instead of a computer to manufacture the beats. sorry for the rant, this shit just pisses me off, and people try to diss my music. fuckers

No need to apologize, that synthetic computer shit pisses me off too. You definitely feel the way I did when I posted this. I still do, synthetic music is not music at all. That's one really good thing about Run DMC, they use real instruments. I hear shit now that doesn't even sound like an instrument, just a computer generated conglomeration of really annoying sounds put into that same, over-used beat.

it seems like they use the word "rockstar" even more, and have bastardized the word egregiously. like pink calling herself a "rockstar" what a fuckin joke. she's shitty pop music or hip hop at best.

All too true, those words have been abused by the pop and hip hop industries. Hey, popstars('puke') and rappers out there, leave the rockin' to the REAL rockstars. And don't get me started on Pink's stupid ass, know your place.
