Write Up A Review of Indestructible Here

Hey everybody, i've been scanning through the boards and i've basically seen two types of response to the new album "its awesome" or "it sucks". Tell me specifically why! And don't just say because its different or theres not as much swearing. In order to get a real appreciation for music you have to go in-depth with it. If you have an opinion on the new album, don't hesitate to post your review here.

If you do write a review, I want you to discuss 3 main categories, and rate them on a scale out of 10

1. Instrumentals (guitar, bass, drums) /10

2. Lyrics/Vocals /10

3. Overall Impression (your final score, NOT an average of the above 2 categories) /10

MY REVIEW OF INDESTRUCTIBLE

INSTRUMENTALS : 9.5/10

The first time i picked up a guitar was when the Sickness came out. So i've been with them since the beginning. And the big thing i've noticed is that Dan's guitar skills in the new songs have been progressivly getting better, along with Mike's drumming. Indestructible features some pretty complex beats, riffs and solos. I'm also giving them kudos for experimenting with new electronic sounds (like in Facade in the beginning of the second verse where you hear that 'techno-like' sound). You also need to keep in mind that the band produced this album themselves, so they get extra points for that. And I love the guitar solos! Dan has really broadened his horizon with new harmonies (Perfect Insanity), his new whammy bar (The Curse), and a little bit of sweep picking (a little part in the solo for The Night).

LYRICS/VOCALS : 9.5/10

The thing that really stood out to me this album was the fact that David was being more aggressive with his vocals. Especially in the bridge part of the song (2:34) in 'Enough', that was probably the most aggressive stuff i've heard from David. Not only are the 'knife-like' vocals a welcome addition, but the melodies are awesome too. They really accentuate the instrumentals in the background which is critical for any song. It also sounds like David has put alot more emotion/attitude in his singing. Emotion is a hard thing to pick out in vocals, but if you read the lyrics, learn the meanings behind the songs, and listen to how David sings, you'll know what i'm talking about.

OVERALL IMPRESSION : 9/10

Overall this album is pretty darn impressive. The only thing that I dont really like is the song Criminal. In my opinion its sounds too much like a 10,000 fists song. Doesn't really go with the flow of the rest of the album. So I docked them for that. It's still an ok song though.

And thats my review of Indestructible. Thanks for reading! And i look forward to reading everybody elses reviews!

Makes sense because Criminal was a B-Side from Fists XD.

Regardless, I'm looking forward to listening to it. Good to see that you actually put some effort into telling why it was good.

a fair review. i agree on most parts, especially noted the part about the whammy which is used so well in the curse, love it! and dave's vocals are indeed impressive in enough, which is consequentially my favorite (or so) song. but i totally disagree with criminal. it doesn't seem to fit in with TTF at all which is most likely why it wasn't released till now, that and it being refined. criminal sounds more like the sickness than TTF if you ask me, and i love it.
