Tell a ‘logical’ person to dream. Tell them that if they do it, they are living. But here, they will rebut that they can’t be living in a fantasy land, that dreams prevent us from seeing reality, and we are therefore chasing a lifetime of illusion and the end will only see us empty-handed. If you are happy with no money or status, you are unsuccessful. Here, the dreamers need to stand up and say that if it weren’t for us, the ‘impractical’ ones, innovation is a dream in and of itself. For though the logical thinkers invent for convenience, dreamers create for enjoyment, for the hopes of a chain reaction in self-fulfillment.
To me it seems that “logis”, (yeah, I coined that), live merely to survive as a race, while the “dreamees”, (also me), consider the individual and the flow it can have on the other individuals. But then there are those other people who are a hybrid I like to call a “dream-log”. These people are like the mulatto children born to a mix-raced couple: they don’t necessarily know where they belong, and are often conflicted when it comes to making decisions. On one hand, they need to know certain facts, but on the other, they have an itching need to control so that they may be free in how they approach the task with creative forces. Society may sometimes scoff at these people because they are a different kind of variable, but they haven’t given up on them like they might with the dreamees. We bring a different view on ‘reality’, which, in itself, is a negative connotation. (What if we aren’t really seeing the real reality? What if it’s all a lie, anyway?) It’s an awkward, frustrating, and beautiful place to be all at once, because you are trustworthy and honest and good-natured, but at the same time, you are curious and self-righteous and turbulent with determination. I believe I am a dream-log, and I believe that many, many more people out there are as well.
So my advice to my fellow brothers and sisters is this: just go. Go be yourself in all lights, because you know who you are, even though you feel like you’re constantly shape-shifting and may not exactly be sure, somewhere, you just know, so just go! Breathe that polluted air knowing what it is, but imagine sometimes that it’s something else. Conduct studies and studies on things that people might not even consider or care about, but because YOU simply want to find out. For the sole dreamers: you can’t spend your days staring at the sun because you will go blind, my dears. I know it’s hard, but you can’t lay awake every single night just to stare at the celestials because you will grow dark, cold, and alone in your own universe. There are other planets out there, yes, but perhaps you need to leave them lonely so you can wonder about them when you need inspiration. This is Earth, and it needs you to be with it sometimes to make it that little bit of beautiful. For you logis out there: color your trees blue once and a while, and allow lightening bugs to shine without an explanation as to why they do so. Stop inventing random gadgets in attempts to make little things in life simpler, because you’re cluttering our brains with technology and actually making us forget how to invent big things like the wheel or telephone or toilet or guitar or hat....or even how to recognize what a great invention is. Spock was part human, too, ya know? And if you need some help seeing in your own light, go to sleep, and allow the subconscious to envelope you with all kinds of ‘tainted’ thoughts. Or, you know, I’m sure the dreamees or dream-logs have some tasty ‘shrooms that might just work a little better, if you reeeeeally want to stay awake
